Northern Shield Defines More Copper Mineralization at Huckleberry - Identifies 15 VTEM Conductors of Interest

Ottawa, Ontario (July 27, 2016) - Northern Shield Resources Inc. ("Northern Shield" or the "Company") [TSX-V: NRN] is very pleased to provide an update on exploration activities on the Company’s Huckleberry property in the Labrador Trough. The programs were executed under the terms of the Option Agreement with South32 announced on June 7th, 2016.The first two phases of sampling and mapping have been completed at Huckleberry along with an airborne VTEM (Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic) survey. Sixty two of the samples collected during the first phase assayed between 0.3% Cu and 1.5% Cu including 15 greater than 1% Cu. Fifty-one samples assayed between 0.3 and 0.9 g/t PGE+Au. The results continue to highlight the Western Copper Zone as the prime area of interest, while also enhancing our understanding of the mineralization at the Eastern Copper Zone, which is more extensive than first thought. A table of the top 40 samples is provided at the end of the press release.

Interpretation and modelling of the VTEM results are on-going but initial analysis shows 15 VTEM conductors of interest, with modelled conductivity that are within the range of what would be expected for segregated, copper-rich magmatic systems  (>200 Siemens) as well as more typical copper-nickel systems (+4000 Siemens). Of particular interest is a segmented conductor with a combined strike-length of 3.5 km coinciding with the Western Copper Zone, which includes a 900 m long EM (electromagnetic) anomaly of moderate conductivity underlying the Discovery Zone.

Some of these conductors will be tested during a drill program expected to commence in the latter half of August, for which more detail will be provided in due course. VTEM results for Séquoi, Sé2 and Idefix are currently being modelled and interpreted and will be available shortly.

The program at Huckleberry was overseen by Christine Vaillancourt, P. Geo., and a Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101. Samples were analyzed by ALS Global in Sudbury, Ontario and in Vancouver, BC, for Au, Pt and Pd by Fire Assay with ICP-AES finish and base metals by four acid digestion and ICP-AES.

Northern Shield Resources Inc. is a Canadian-based company focused on exploring for platinum group element (“PGE”) and nickel-copper-PGE deposits. It is known as a leader in grass roots exploration for Ni-Cu-PGEs and the understanding of magmatic systems as it applies to exploration.
