NORTHERN SHIELD COMPLETED PRIVATE PLACEMENT

Ottawa (April 15, 2004) – Northern Shield Resources Inc. (“Northern Shield”) (TSX-V:NRN) announced today that it has completed a private placement of 520,000 flow-through common shares at a price of $0.25 per share for gross proceeds of $130,000. This private placement is separate from Northern Shield’s short form offering for gross proceeds of a minimum of $1,000,000 and a maximum of $1,500,000 which is underway.

The securities issued under the private placement cannot be traded before August 2, 2004.

Northern Shield’s management believes that the key to mineral exploration success and the creation of investor value is found in a combination of ingenuity, technical expertise and efficiency.
