NORTHERN SHIELD RESOURCES STRENGTHENS TEAMS TO ADVANCE PGE AND DIAMOND PROJECTS: APPOINTS NEW CFO; ENGAGES INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANT GROUP AND APPOINTS MR. RONALD LITTLE AND DR. EDWARD SCHILLER AS CONSULTANTS.

Ottawa (February 13, 2006) - Northern Shield Resources Inc. ("Northern Shield") [TSX-V: NRN] is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Sam Legg, CA as Chief Financial Officer, effective February 1, 2006 and the appointment of Chris de Saint-Rome, Northern Shield’s former Chief Financial Officer, as Vice-president, Corporate Development.

Sam Legg has a BSc. in Biochemistry from the University of Toronto and became a Chartered Accountant in 1987. Sam has close to 20 years of experience in corporate accounting and finance including positions at Newbridge Networks and Ernst &Young. Mr Legg has been granted stock options to purchase 75,000 shares at a price of $0.40 per share.

In his new role as Vice president, Corporate Development, Chris de Saint-Rome, Northern Shield’s former Chief Financial Officer, will assist the Company’s President, Ian Bliss, on matters related to investor relations, corporate financings, and marketing.

Northern Shield is also pleased to announce the appointment of Ronald Little and Dr. Edward Schiller as consultants/advisors. Ronald Little is the founding President and CEO of Orezone Resources Inc. (OZN-TSX, Amex), a gold exploration and production company based in Ottawa, Ontario. Mr. Little is a professional engineer with over twenty years of experience at senior levels, in mineral exploration, mine development and mine operations. Dr. Edward Schiller, PhD, P.Geo., is a consulting geologist and the director of two Canadian resource companies in addition to maintaining a consulting practice. He writes for several Canadian and international magazines on mining and mineral exploration related subjects. Dr Schiller is a former director of Dia Met Minerals Ltd., and supervised Dia Met’s discovery by drilling of the first diamond-bearing kimberlite at Pointe Lake, N.W.T. in 1991 (now part of the Ekati Mine production). Mr. Little will receive 200,000 options at an exercise price of $0.40 per share and Dr. Schiller will receive 150,000 options at an exercise price of $0.40 per share.

Northern Shield has also engaged Scott Jobin-Bevans, PhD, P.Geo, managing director of CCIC, (Caracle Creek International Consulting Inc.), to assist in the management of Northern Shield’s Highbank Lake PGE-Chrome Property in northern Ontario. Dr. Jobin-Bevans will act as the Qualified Person under NI 43-101 for the Highbank Lake project. Dr. Jobin-Bevans has been involved in mineral exploration since 1988 and is very experienced in managing exploration projects. Before co-founding CCIC, Dr. Jobin-Bevans managed the River Valley PGE Project for Pacific North West Capital Corp. and their joint venture partners Anglo American Platinum Corporation Ltd.
