Northern Shield Resources Inc. (TSX-V: NRN) is building what it believes to be Canada’s newest porphyry copper-gold district, hiding in plain sight on the Burin Peninsula of Newfoundland. At the centre of this emerging district is the Company’s flagship Root & Cellar Property, where five epithermal gold showings surround a 2 km diameter copper anomaly. Recent work has identified mineralization and rock types that formed at the very top of the hydrothermal system 575 million years ago — proving the entire system is preserved from surface to depth. With grab samples assaying up to 111 g/t Au, 1,385 g/t Ag, 700 ppm Te, 10.5% Cu, and 1.1% Mo, we believe what has been found at surface is the tip of the iceberg.

In 2012, copper and gold were discovered at Root & Cellar by local prospector Jeffery Brushett. Northern Shield is the first company to conduct methodical exploration on the property.
